Itinerary
Day 01: Cusco – Cachora – Playa Rosalina
We leave Cusco very early in the morning between 4:30- 5:00 am by a private vehicle and drive you cross the Andes towards capuliyoq (9550 ft / 2911 m) the starting point, arriving approximately at 8:30 am. We will enjoy a delicious breakfast together with the magical view of glaciar peaks and choquequiraw mountain. Time to start our pilgremage, the sacred leaves of mama coca will help us making easy and understardable our hike the whole way and a protección. Along the way, you can enjoy some absolutely stunning views of the Apurimac canyon – one of the deepest in Peru, and spectacular panoramas of the different landscapes: from the highlands of Peru to the dense vegetation of the cloud forest. We arrive lunch spot chiquiska, after that we continue our journey down to playa rosalina (1478m / 4849ft), our tents and a hot drink will be waiting for us ready later we will have dinner and camp for the night.

Day 02: Playa Rosalina- Marampata – Choquequirao
After a nutritive breakfast, we will get ready for one of the most challenging rewarding days of your willkapacha experience, we are going to start a gradual ascend to Marampata (2,850 m/9,350 ft), the trek gets harder but remember every effort will have its reward; however,it offers spectacular views of the deep Apurimac River Canyon and the river itself that is the main tributary of the Amazon River! We can also spot condors soaring in the mountains if we are lucky! When we get to Marampata, we have lunch at a picturesque spot with breathtaking views of the mountains and the river, a short rest them around 4 pm, we will arrive to the enigmatic and fabulous Cradel of Gold – Choquequirao (3,100 m./10,168 ft)! The city is even considered bigger in extension than the Sancturary of Machu Picchu! Our campsite is located right next to the archaeological site and so you have the freedom to visit this mysterious place at any time you like and as many times as you like, whether its to enjoy the sunset, sunrise or just for a some quite ‘me-time’. And we offer our coca ceremony up in gratitud to be there.

Day 03: Choquequirao – pinchuy unuyoq
We will wake you up bright and early with a nice cup of hot coca tea or coffee to witness the amazing sunrise over the mountains. After breakfast, we have all the morning to explore, know and connect with this magnificent inka city. Teaching you about the inka knowledge, life in that place on the ancestral way and some spiritual practices to improve your own connection; Choquequirao (cradle of gold) is nicknamed the twin brother of Machu Picchu because is almost same size of it. One of the most beauties there is the lama sector (the cosmic lamas represented there from the milky way constelations); we have lunch at the same place later on we are going to continue up to the Choquequirao Pass (3,300 m/10,890 ft) then start descending to pinchuy unuyoq camp site arriving about 5:00 pm, exploring a little more about that inka place, we will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 04: pinchuy unuyoq – maizal
We will wake up in the middle of the magical inka terraces with a nice cup of hot coca tea or coffee to witness the amazing sunrise. After breakfast, time to move down hill to Rio Blanco (White River; 1,900 m/6,270 ft) to enter at the cloud forest again There, we can appreciate polylepis trees (native mountain trees with shredded, multi-layered bark), bromeliads, orchids, diverse bird species as well as water fountains.we will climb this magical snake shape way up hill until we arrive at our campsite the village of Maizal (3,000 m/9,900 ft) where we have our lunch too. where we set up our next campsite. From this natural view point, we can appreciate imposing views of the gorges of Yanama and Yurahmayo that later join the Apurimac River Canyon! Also the sunsets there are really stunning!

Day 05: Maizal – Minas Victoria – Yanama
We start ascending after a local and early breakfast towards the Victoria Pass (4,150 m/13,695 ft). After 4 hour steep ascending by the Qoriwayrachina mountain, we reach the Minas Victoria, an Incan and later colonial silver mining centre that is abandoned nowadays, followin the inka melody which is going to take you in a deeper connection and vibration with this mountains. When we reach the Victoria Pass, we enjoy a breathtaking view of the snow-capped mountains of Humantay (5,700 m/18,700 ft) and snowy sankaltay (6,271 m/20,574 ft), considered as the “guardian spirit of the jungle”! Finally, we descend to the village of Yanama (3,800 m/12,540 ft) where we overnight in another campsite with views of the Yanama River below us and Pumasillo Mountain above us.

Day 06: Yanama – Totora
We start hiking in the morning after a local and nutritive breakfast towards the Yanama Valley passing farm fields and lush vegetation, later overcome the highest pass of the pilgrimage – Yanama Pass (4,668 m/15,315 ft). Today our hike gets harder and the day is challenging! However, it offers spectacular views of a chain of snowy peaks such as the Sacsarayoj and Padreyoc Mountains! If we are lucky, we can also spot majestic condors flying above surrounding cliffs. When reaching the pass, we are able to make a pile with stones (apacheta) a point or portal of connection with two diferent sites and a thankful ceremony to pachamama and Apus (the mountain spirits) for a safe journey and good luck! Then, we descend to the Totora Pampa where our lunch will be waiting us ready; afterwards walking two more hours in the afternon campsite is situated in the village of Totora (3,630 m/11,979 ft).

Day 07: Totora – Collpapampa – lucmapampa
After a healthy breakfast, we start hiking today following the flow of the Totora River to later descend gradually to a high (or mountain) jungle – known in Spanish as the “Ceja de selva (literally: jungle´s eyebrow) admiring the view of the mountains you left behind,now we can notice the quickly changing vegetation and temperature getting warmer. In the high jungle, we can view its typical lush vegetation of wild orchids,bamboo and bromeliads as well as watch a variety of beautiful birds. Having an amaizing time to combine the highlands with the forest in complete harmony, we keep descending having the Santa Teresa River on the left side observing small coffee and tropical fruit´s plantations on the way as passion fruit. we get the lunch. Today’s lunch is special, after hiking for about 5 hours, taking a van the last part, we’ll get ready to participate in a Pachamanca, an ancient traditional underground stone barbecue. The cooking takes about 45 minutes then you sit down to enjoy the different delicacies like the Cuy (Guinea pig), different types of potatoes, fruits, vegetables prepared like locals.
In the afternon you will have free time to relax and enjoy the amazing place or optional to go hot springs of san taresa later dinner and spent the night.

Day 08: Lucmabamba- llaqta pata-hidroelectrica- aguas calientes
We will wake up early today to enjoy a leisurely time after a healthy breakfast, we are going to visit the coffee farms and prepared your own cup. While you’ll prepare for the most beautiful day of our pilgrimage to the legendary citadel of Machu Picchu. Hiking is going to start up along by the original inka trail until we arrive at llaqta pata inka city located in from of machupicchu at (2750m (9022ft) where you’ll catch the first glimpse of Machu Picchu from the distance, once we finish to enjoy and relax we are going to continue walking down to hidroelctrica, we have lunch and later on to take the train straight to aguas calientes (Machupicchu town), dinner and a restaurant and we spend the last night and a hotel.

Day 09: Aguas Calientes-Machu Picchu-Aguas Calientes-Cusco
Today is one of your most important days, visiting one of the sacred inka temples. Very early after breakfast we aboard the bus up to machupicchu inka city wich wait us with the Heart full of love, with the sacred leaves of mama coca we announced our presence there, receiving and greeting to the father sun (tayta inti),walk up to the sun gate then we go into the cristal city acknowledgment and visit it.
After finishing with the citadel, you need to take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes, have lunch, collect your belongings from the hotel, and take the train back to Ollantaytambo train station and our private van back to Cusco. The willkapachaexperience team will drive your hotel and apreciate your choise and visit.
